Two of the most respected artists and educators
currently working in the UK , have teamed up to lead a series of exciting
glass making workshops in the idyllic setting of the Kentish Weald.
The 2000 sq.ft.
studio space boasts state of the art kiln technology and a full complement
of cold working facilities for glass.
Angela Thwaites teaches regularly in London , and has published a CDRom entitled ‘Mixing
with the Best' - a comprehensive survey of contemporary kiln cast glass techniques.
She exhibits regularly with New London Glass, and is known for her engaging and
sensitive work.
Max Jacquard is known for his stunning installation
work seen at the ‘Solid
Air' exhibition at the Crafts Council in London , and more recently
at Daniel Katz gallery. Jacquard is one of the founding members of
the New London Glass Collective, currently exhibiting in Fragile Cargo, glassforms.co.uk
Jacquard and Thwaites are both visiting lecturers at leading U.K.
institutions including S.I.A.D. Farnham, and Wolverhampton University
.
The Courses
The courses vary from
2-5 days, and have been designed to link so that students can experience
a range of glass making techniques. ‘Mix
and match' between fusing and slumping, model and mould making, casting
and cold working.
Firings of small scale pieces, will take place during the courses.
Larger pieces may be fired in the ensuing week, and if not collected,
can be sent at the extra cost of post and packaging..

Easily
accessible by road and rail, 5 minutes from both the Leeds Castle junction
of the M20, and Headcorn Station, Greensand Barn is located at Church
Farm, overlooking the village of Ulcoombe . Bed and breakfast facilities
are available locally.
